MOSCOW, November 20, 14:59 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia upholds priority issues of the upcoming 6th BRICS summit due to take place in Brasilia in 2014, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in talks with Brazilian counterpart Luiz Alberto Figueiredo on Wednesday.
“Inclusive development and sustainable growth coincide with the agenda of Russia’s presidency within the G20. Our efforts are aimed at searching for new investments in the real sector in order to reach innovation growth and create new jobs,” Lavrov said.
The reform of the global monetary and financial system is one of the key tasks of the G20. “The first stage of the reform was coordinated in 2010, but it was not finished. BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) prioritise the reform of the global monetary and financial system,” the minister said.
He said the BRICS countries had common positions on such issues as Syria, Iran and the Middle East settlement. “We believe that the issues should be resolved by diplomatic and peaceful means,” he said.
Lavrov praised BRICS’ efforts within the United Nations Organisation. He said Russia and Brazil supported an initiative to giving up the deployment of weapons in space and called for strengthening information security by working out a code of conduct in cyberspace.
