ROSTOV-ON-DON, June 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Southern Russia's Rostov region has received more than 122,000 Ukrainian citizens fleeing besieged towns across the border, according to latest figures released on Monday.

Seventy thousand of these had not returned home, said Sergei Tyurin, head of the regional government’s information policies department. Some of those displaced had moved further into Russian territory to reach relatives, friends and volunteers. Others were being accommodated in camps and recreation centers, he added.

Over the 24 hours of June 15-16, 13,166 people had arrived in the region, Tyurin said, noting an increasing flow of those seeking refuge from the neighboring state’s troubled southeast.
