WARSAW, April 09. /ITAR-TASS/. Latvia has spoken in favour of Poland’s idea to create a European energy union, Latvian Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma told a joint news conference with Polish head of government Donald Tusk on Wednesday.
“We support Poland’s proposal to set up an EU energy union. We consider this idea good in order to guarantee stable supplies of energy resources to Europe,” she said.
“Our countries are at long-term work upon the common energy market, energy ties,” Tusk said in turn, adding that he and his Latvian counterpart discussed prospects for stepping up joint projects with the Baltic States.
Poland offers to create an EU energy union, which will allow members of the union to carry out joint purchases of energy resources in third countries with their further distribution among national power grids.
